I work on web development projects using Rails, Plone, or WordPress as well as projects involving linux administration, with a preference for Ubuntu.
I’ve been building websites since the late 1990′s, was a first wave web standards campaigner (I’ve mellowed with age) and currently am studying to take the LPI certs.
More Specifically
I am a front-end engineer and web developer with over 12 years experience in web application development, database design, linux system administration and project management; over 5 years experience developing high level SEO and website strategy, SEO implementation, and web analytics.
Since 2004, I’ve primarily worked on development projects using Plone and a variety of PHP content management systems and in 2006 began working with Ruby on Rails in the views layer. In 2008 I accepted a job role that grew into a Linux system admin role, infrastructure building and PCI compliance management.
It’s now 2011 and armed with nearly 3 years of Linux admin, I’m very much looking forward to doing more web development. Right now, I’m focusing on rebuilding my portfolio with projects using html 5, css 3, javascript and Rails 3.
In my last job I developed an SEO roadmap that resulted in first page Google listings for some of the most competitive search phrases on the web. I enjoy working out a good SEO strategy and other “big picture” projects and I perform best in a role that includes a healthy mix of both detailed implementation work and creative, strategic “big picture” projects such as website and SEO strategy.
I enjoy the variety and breadth of the work I get to do so please contact me if you have an interesting project you’d like to chat about.
